How can you unleash the power of technology in your elementary school? Learn how to go beyond textbooks and explore learning from teachers and administrators in the Plainview Old Bethpage School district. They will take you on a journey that focuses on the integration of technology and the 4C’s, and demonstrates the direct impact on student learning and achievement. Digital Learning Spaces- How do we use Google Classroom, SOLE, flipped classrooms and Independent Investigative Methods to motivate students to take ownership over their work, collaborate with others and seek and give feedback? Learn how we use these, amongst other web based apps including Show Me, Google Expedition, Screencastify and Doceri, to provide students with the freedom to produce, present and share their work. The Art of Design- How does STEAM support 21st Century Skills, ISTE standards and budding engineers? Learn how POB implements methodologies to engage learners, instill a growth mindset, and create lifelong critical thinkers as they practice the iterative model of design using robotics and coding (Ozobots, Spheros, etc.), makerspaces, and the Engineering Design Process. The Rhythm of Learning- How is technology changing our relationship with students in music class? See how we embed technology (SMART Music, Sight Reading Factory and other web based programs) into our music classrooms to create more engaged, fluent musicians. Knocking Down the Walls- How do students, staff and administrators connect with and share with other educators all over the world, as well as parents in our school community? See how we use social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) to share our stories! Participants will leave with ideas that can be implemented immediately and effectively in an elementary school setting.
